Our team consists of advanced care providers who are board certified and AAHC accredited. We collectively work to create a coordinated experience for our patients seeking quality health care. Our care providers practice medicine in partnership with our clinics’ physicians to provide efficient, patient-centered care.
Our Center for Digestive Health team has expertise in a range of different specialties. Our specialties include colon cancer screening procedures as well as treatment for GERD, inflammatory bowel syndrome (IBS), inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), liver disease and pancreatic disease.

Sante D. Bologna, MD FACP
SANTE D. BOLOGNA, MD FACP is American Board of Internal Medicine certified in Gastroenterology and Internal Medicine. He is the senior partner and was instrumental in forming the group in 1992. A graduate of Wayne State University, Dr. Bologna served as Chief Resident at Henry Ford Hospital, prior to completing his three-year GI fellowship there.
John R. Weber, MD
JOHN R. WEBER, MD is American Board of Internal Medicine certified in Gastroenterology and Internal Medicine. Dr. Weber joined the group in 1997 from the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), where he was Assistant Professor of Gastroenterology.
Richard T. Wille, MD
RICHARD T. WILLE, MD is American Board of Internal Medicine certified in Gastroenterology and Internal Medicine. Dr. Wille completed his undergraduate studies at Wayne State University. He attended the University of Michigan for medical school, Internal Medicine residency and fellowship training in Gastroenterology/Hepatology. He also served as Chief Medical Resident in 1993.
Partha S. Nandi, MD FACP
PARTHA S. NANDI, MD FACP is American Board of Internal Medicine certified in Gastroenterology and Internal Medicine. He performed his undergraduate studies at Ohio State University, where he graduated summa cum laude. Dr. Nandi obtained his medical degree at Wayne State University, where he graduated with distinction. He also completed his Internal Medicine residency at Wayne State University. His three-year Gastroenterology fellowship was completed at the University of Michigan. Dr. Nandi has a special interest in therapeutic endoscopy and endoscopic ultrasound.
M. Emin Donat, MD FRCPC
M. EMIN DONAT, MD FRCPC is American Board of Internal Medicine certified in Gastroenterology and Internal Medicine. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada. Dr. Donat is a graduate of University of Western Ontario, Canada, where he also obtained his medical degree. Dr. Donat completed his residency and three-year Gastroenterology fellowship at the University of Ottawa, Canada, where he was Chief Resident, Division of Gastroenterology in 1997.
Leonard G. Quallich III, MD
LEONARD G. QUALLICH III, MD is Board certified in Internal Medicine and board certified in Gastroenterology. He performed his undergraduate and medical school studies at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. Dr. Quallich completed his Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology/Hepatology training at the University of Michigan.
Anezi E. Bakken, MD MS
ANEZI E. BAKKEN, MD MS is Board certified in Internal Medicine and in Gastroenterology. Dr. Bakken completed her undergraduate and medical school studies at the University of Nigeria and had three years of further medical training at various hospitals in the United Kingdom. She then completed her Internal Medicine residency at Wayne State University.

AMIR ABADIR, MD FRCPC is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine. He is also a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology.
Jack Tocco, DO
JACK TOCCO, DO is board certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology. He completed his undergraduate studies at Michigan State University. Dr. Tocco obtained his medical degree from Pikeville School of Osteopathic Medicine in Kentucky.
Freeha Khan, MD
Freeha Khan, MD is a board-certified gastroenterologist at the Center for Digestive Health in Troy. Dr. Khan completed her fellowship with the University of Louisville after a research fellowship focused on Inflammatory Bowel Disease at Cleveland Clinic.

AALIA SAEED, MD is a board-certified gastroenterologist with over 10 years of experience in Gastroenterology. She completed her Gastroenterology Fellowship at Henry Ford Hospital, an Internal Medicine Residency at the University of Minnesota, and earned her Doctor of Medicine at the Rawalpindi Medical College.

CRISTIE SARAH is a board-certified Adult-Gerontology Nurse Practitioner. She has devoted her practice to Gastroenterology with a special interest in Hepatobiliary and Irritable Bowel Disease. Obtained a Masters of Science in Nursing at Oakland University in 2016 and a Bachelors of Science in Nursing at Oakland University in 2008. She has 8 years of nursing experience in surgical intensive care with pre and post-liver transplantation at Royal Oak Beaumont. Member of American Academy of Nurse practitioners and Michigan Council of Nurse Practitioners. She enjoys spending her free time with family and her two children.
Noelle Maude, MSN, RN, FNP-C
NOELLE MAUDE is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner with 19 years of nursing experience. She obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from Oakland University in 1999. She graduated with a Master of Science degree in Family Nurse Practitioner from the University of Detroit Mercy in 2017. Her experience as a nurse includes medical-surgical nursing, gastroenterology, emergency medicine, and 15 years of critical care nursing in the SICU. She is a member of the Michigan Council of Nurse Practitioners and Sigma Theta Tau. She is a wife and mother of two children. Both of children have Celiac disease, and she has acquired a strong knowledge base about dietary management and resources for patients with Celiac disease. Noelle is very passionate about health care maintenance, illness prevention, and overall wellness through medications and lifestyle changes. She spends her free time camping, kayaking, watching baseball, reading, and volunteering at a local animal shelter.
Paula Spinks, PA-C
Paula Spinks has been a Physician Assistant since 1995. Before landing in Gastroenterology, her career path included Family Practice, hospital Internal Medicine, Critical Care Medicine in the hospital Intensive Care Unit and has been in Gastroenterology since 2005. She thrives on the tough and challenging cases admitted to the hospital.
She is married and has 3 children and 2 grandchildren. Her hobbies include reading, traveling to new places, running and recently has joined the Pickeball craze.

Jennifer Ponkowski has been a board certified physician assistant since August of 2019. She graduated from the Accelerated Five Year Physician Assistant Program at the University of Detroit Mercy where she obtained both a Bachelor’s of Science in Biology and Masters Degree in Physician Assistant Studies. Before landing in gastroenterology, her career path included both family medicine and emergency medicine.
Nicolette VanMaldeghem, DNP, RN, AGACNP-BC
Nicolette VanMaldeghem is a board-certified Adult-Geriatric Nurse Practitioner. She completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree at Oakland University in 2017 and her Doctor of Nursing Practice degree at Wayne State University in 2021. She has 7 years combined nursing experience in Critical Care and Nephrology. Nicolette worked in the Medical Intensive Care Unit at Beaumont Hospital-Troy for nearly 2 years during the COVID-19 pandemic, caring for the sickest patients. She is a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners.
During her free time, she enjoys cooking, trying new restaurants, traveling the world, and cuddling up on the couch watching Netflix with her husband and 2 puppies.

Getting a Colonoscopy is something I tried to avoid as long as I could. But my most recent one at surgical centers was such a positive experience from the receptionist to the doctor to recovery and even a call later that day to make sure I was ok, was much appreciated. Everyone was pleasant, professional and efficient. They told my husband to come back in 40 minutes once I left the lobby, and they were spot on exactly on time. Considering no one wants to have one, but if you need to... this is the best place.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: Dr. Nandi is the best! I couldn't recommend him any more highly than I already do to anyone that'll listen! He is genuinely the only doctor left that offers me any sort of comfort or hope. I started a new medication, Voquezna, after my upper EGD and I am feeling a gazillion times better already! The med is super expensive, but the man works miracles, and it's being home delivered for $50 a month. That was the cheapest option, which can be expensive, but I had some samples to try out, and honestly, my gut health is worth it!! I was miserable before!

Well no one likes the prospect of having a colonoscopy rather it’s routine or not. The staff was wonderful explaining everything and making you feel at ease. Dr. Weber was originally recommended by my primary care physician because she sees him for her colonoscopes. Can't get a better recommendation than that. I've seen Dr. Weber 3 times now for colonoscopies. Every time he and the nurses and technicians have been friendly and professional. They are very efficient and well prepared. Appointments have always been on time and prep is quick. Following the procedure, Dr. Weber meets with patients in post op and carefully explains any findings. As long as Dr. Weber is practicing I will be using him.

This was the first time I went to see Dr. Bologna for a routine colonoscopy ( the first one in 10 years) and the first one not in a hospital. The overnight prep was much easier than I remembered, and it was much more personal coming to a treatment center office. The staff seemed very well trained and friendly, and worked hard to put me at ease.Dr. Bologna greeted me and answered my questions... he was friendly and kindOver all, it was an awesome experience for a not very awesome medical exam that adults have to deal with. Dr. Donat and his staff were very attentive. They run a clean facility and it is very COVID safe/conscious. You can tell Dr. Donat cares for his patients and their overall health. After my mother’s colonoscopy, they even brought her orange juice when she woke up since they knew she had diabetes. They even called her a few hours after to make sure she was okay. We are making Dr. Donat the GI doctor for my father as well after our wonderful experience. Dr. Donat and his staff are efficient and very kind. Blood Draw was quick & efficient once we got to it, so that's where the 5 Stars come from.However, I had to read through a 17 page Research Study document (which could have been sent in advance), then sign the paperwork in what appeared to be an examination room in one building, and then, strangely, had to walk across the parking lot drive to a second building for the blood draw....? Seemed like all could have been done in one building or the other. (The second building had a regular waiting room like any other doctor's office.)

This center has the best and most compassionate staff. I was very nervous about my first colonoscopy (more so with the prep!). I appreciated the care and support that the nurses gave me in answering my questions and concerns. A colonoscopy is not something that anyone looks forward to doing in their lifetime, but if it needs to be done, I will say that you are in excellent hands with the staff here.

Ignore the the people giving one stars. Was one of the more pleasurable doctors visits I have ever had. Dr. Bakken was great, asked a lot of questions to get to the bottom of my issues and immediately presented solutions to move forward. More importantly she took ample time visiting with me and I did not feel rushed. I will say getting ahold of an actual person midday at Center For Digestive Health (going through the automated prompts) can be a tedious process but that is not a reflection of Dr. Bakken's competency or professionalism.

Getting a Colonoscopy is something I tried to avoid as long as I could. But my most recent one at surgical centers was such a positive experience from the receptionist to the doctor to recovery and even a call later that day to make sure I was ok, was much appreciated. Everyone was pleasant, professional and efficient. They told my husband to come back in 40 minutes once I left the lobby, and they were spot on exactly on time. Considering no one wants to have one, but if you need to... this is the best place.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: Dr. Nandi is the best! I couldn't recommend him any more highly than I already do to anyone that'll listen! The med is super expensive, but the man works miracles, and it's being home delivered for $50 a month. I've seen Dr. Weber 3 times now for colonoscopies. Every time he and the nurses and technicians have been friendly and professional. They are very efficient and well prepared. Appointments have always been on time and prep is quick. Following the procedure, Dr. Weber meets with patients in post op and carefully explains any findings. As long as Dr. Weber is practicing I will be using him.

The overnight prep was much easier than I remembered, and it was much more personal coming to a treatment center office. Dr. Donat and his staff were very attentive. They run a clean facility and it is very COVID safe/conscious. You can tell Dr. Donat cares for his patients and their overall health. After my mother’s colonoscopy, they even brought her orange juice when she woke up since they knew she had diabetes. They even called her a few hours after to make sure she was okay. We are making Dr. Donat the GI doctor for my father as well after our wonderful experience. Dr. Donat and his staff are efficient and very kind. Blood Draw was quick & efficient once we got to it, so that's where the 5 Stars come from.However, I had to read through a 17 page Research Study document (which could have been sent in advance), then sign the paperwork in what appeared to be an examination room in one building, and then, strangely, had to walk across the parking lot drive to a second building for the blood draw....? Seemed like all could have been done in one building or the other. (The second building had a regular waiting room like any other doctor's office.)

This center has the best and most compassionate staff. I was very nervous about my first colonoscopy (more so with the prep!). I appreciated the care and support that the nurses gave me in answering my questions and concerns. A colonoscopy is not something that anyone looks forward to doing in their lifetime, but if it needs to be done, I will say that you are in excellent hands with the staff here.

Round two! Had my first one three years ago and with family history, having another by Dr. Donat is a no-brainer. Quick. Painless. Worst part is just drinking the large quantity of clear liquids 1-2 days before. Small price to pay to avoid the second leading cause of cancer death.Dr. Donat has done this procedure thousands of times. Mine lasted 15 minutes. Went perfectly. Don’t wait.

Ignore the the people giving one stars. Was one of the more pleasurable doctors visits I have ever had. Dr. Bakken was great, asked a lot of questions to get to the bottom of my issues and immediately presented solutions to move forward. More importantly she took ample time visiting with me and I did not feel rushed. I will say getting ahold of an actual person midday at Center For Digestive Health (going through the automated prompts) can be a tedious process but that is not a reflection of Dr. Bakken's competency or professionalism.

I'll tell you what.....getting my first-ever colonoscopy was easier than I could have ever imagined. I have dreaded this procedure for the last several years because many people have made it sound like it's the worst thing ever. Yes, the prep is nothing fun, but not anything worse than I had anticipated. After that, Dr. Quallich and his staff made me feel as comfortable as can be, and everything, including the procedure, went as discussed. The rest of my day, I felt as normal as can be.
